WW2 P-38 Lightning four Ship Formation 8x10 Photo Photo Description: A left side view 8x10 photo of United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) Lockheed P-38 Lightning aircraft assigned to the 27th Fighter Squadron first Fighter Group in a 4-ship formation somewhere over Europe in 1942/43. The closest serial number in the photo is 44-24217 and 44-24379 the 2nd closet while assigned to the 16th Fighter Group and the 24th Fighter Squadron was damaged on November 5, 1942 at New France Field, Canal Zone during a taxi accident. It was also damaged in a landing accident on March 12, 1943 at La Joya Field, Canal Zone. It crashed on takeoff at Howard Field, Canal Zone July 28, 1943.
